Rebecca Ramer, LMHC
Rebecca Ramer (Becky), is a licensed mental health counselor, LMHC, licensed to provide counseling by the New Mexico counseling board, with a master’s degree in counseling from Webster University. Becky believes it’s important to meet her clients where they are. Her philosophy is that you are doing the best that you can and “when you know better you will do better.” (Maya Angelou). Becky engages each client from a place of acceptance, non-judgment and with unconditional positive regard. She believes her role is to hold a safe space for her clients as they process through their grief, loss, trauma, disappointments and hurt. While therapy will assist in personal growth, it can also be a painful process of self-discovery, and change is never easy.
Becky specializes in treating clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, reprogramming negative thought patterns and addressing family dysfunction that may be interfering with a person’s ability to live the life they deserve. Her primary approach to counseling is an integration of person-centered, mindfulness-based, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). She utilizes a vast array of modalities, including EMDR, EFT (emotionally focused therapy) and other theoretical approaches. Becky’s scope of practice includes working with adults, couples, families, and teens. Prior to becoming a therapist, Becky worked at a women and children veteran homeless shelter. In addition, she has volunteered long term at a suicide hotline. Becky’s skilled in helping individuals struggling to cope with mood challenges, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, codependency, self-esteem issues, and trauma. She’s in the process of becoming trained in holistic modalities and how to work with first responders.
Becky believes self-acceptance is a sacred journey, and when we fully accept ourselves, we are then able to accept others. To that truth she believes that the relationship between the client, and and her as the therapist is essential to having a positive experience in therapy. “If you can’t face it, you can’t heal it. If you don’t say it, you will never come to grips with it.” (Iyanla)
Becky is open, empathetic and desire to be attuned to the uniqueness of each person. She enjoys working with all nationalities, sexual orientations, gender, and religious affiliation. Becky sees her job as being to help a person heal, not to judge their choices. She will provide a supportive space that fosters trust, respect, healthy attachments with others, while a person heals the issues that have long held them back. Together client and counselor will construct a toolbox of healthy skills that will help one to live your best life; one filled with self-empowerment and self-validation.
Becky looks forward to going on this journey with you, and working with you to achieve your goals, let's get started, you deserve the best life you can create!
